As a charity, we depend greatly on the community to be able to do the work that we do. In order to show our appreciation, we give back to the community through the following channels:
On our anniversary, we hold a carnival in MacPherson Estate to celebrate, adding cheer and joy to the neighbourhood through the festivities. Residents are involved in the Carnival programmes, with parents of our students setting up the game and activity booths at the carnival.
Reading and Tuition Programme
Since February 2017, we have conducted a Reading and Tuition Programme, free-of-charge for MacPherson residents, providing an avenue for financially-strapped families to send their children for tuition that they may otherwise struggle to afford. Volunteers (trained by professional educators) come every Saturday to read and teach primary school students.
The Student Care Fees Assistance (SCFA) is a scheme under the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) that helps eligible families by subsidising the children’s student care fees. We are registered with MSF as an administrator for this scheme and we help families to apply for the subsidies.
